Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has warned that his former side cannot afford to replicate Liverpool’s Premier League title drought.

The Reds dominated English football in the 80s and early 90s but have not won the Premier League title for the last 25 years.

The North London club have failed to win the top flight since the 2003-04 campaign where they went the entire season without tasting defeat, but Henry is optimistic that the current squad has the quality to win the title in the near future.

Henry, who remains Arsenal’s all time leading scorer told L'Equipe: "If I had said to you, in 1990, that Liverpool would not win the title for the next 25 years, you would have thought me very ill.

"I don't want the same thing to happen to Arsenal. It is now 11 years. This year, we are not so far away.

"Apart from the first leg against Monaco, they are going in the right direction but they without doubt dropped too many points at the start of the season. But I think this squad can win the title in the years to come."

The Gunners are currently third in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Chelsea with eight matches to play.
