Pele has sensationally claimed that his position as the undisputed Brazil football king is not under threat from youngster Neymar.

The 23-year year old has been hailed as  the heir apparent to the Brazil football throne but Pele, who won three World Cup trophies and scored over 1000 goals in his illustrious career can’t see that happening.

Asked on Wednesday in Melbourne if the Barcelona prodigy can replace him as Brazilian football's favourite son, Pele said: "I think not."

"I think to be the new king, the new Pele, is impossible. Because my mother and my father closed the machine. I think he's a good player, an excellent young player and he's going to be a big star, no doubt."

On the same breath, the Charismatic legend claimed that he would still be a force to reckon with in the modern game that boast the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He added: "If you ask, would Beethoven be important now? Of course.

"If I was in this moment and prepared to play in this moment. The thing people forget is I was given a gift to play football, this is something no-one can judge."
